Brearley edges Powell for Knuckle Huck Gold
Liam Brearley wasn’t even on the Men’s Snowboard Knuckle Huck alternate list in the weeks leading up to X Games Aspen. But the Ontario native took a surprise slopestyle victory at the Laax Open just days before X Games, and suddenly the then 20-year-old was on his way to Aspen. The then 20-year-old made the most of his opportunity in X Games Knuckle Huck. The rookie stomped a switch hand-drag Cab 720 in Run 2 before his wild Run 3 pass -- a nose-butter to Cab rodeo -- cemented his gold medal.

Past X Games Knuckle Huck champ Zeb Powell showed why he’s always a threat in the discipline. Yes, he broke out his ridiculously oversized 205cm snowboard during the contest. He also landed a coffin slide 360 that helped power him to the silver. Darcy Sharpe made the most of his first Knuckle Huck appearance. The Canadian scored bronze, his 5th X Games medal.
