Meet the Rider and Filmers of RealMTB 2024
Get to know the five athletes and filmer/editors behind the mind-bending parts of RealMTB 2024
Rider Matt MacDuff + Filmer/Editor Louis Lhomel
Country: Canada (British Columbia)
About Matt:
- Has had a long career in freeride MTB that has included contests, video productions and some wild stunts, such as constructing and attempting to ride the largest loop ever built in 2016…aka “The Loop of Doom”
- Most recently has had the spotlight back on him for creating his own freeride paradise - The Big Air Compound
- Pushing the limits of how big mountain bike jumps can be built and ridden
- At home when riding big air on the downhill bike or street riding on the hardtail bike - truly a versatile athlete
The Video Part:
- Focused his part around his “Big Air Compound,” located in Kamloops, BC, and went into overdrive with his crew to finish the builds in time
- Went back to his roots to film his street clips, with longtime friend and his XG filmer/editor, Louis Lhomel
- Pushing the limits with NBDs like the open loop upside down wall ride
Rider Remy Morton + Filmer/Editor Scott Robb
Country: Australia (Queensland)
About Remy:
- Best known for riding a very different type of bike set up, featuring unorthodox wheel sizes in a mullet configuration, and no chain
- Known for his smooth style, high speed riding and big jumps
- Also known for riding in cut off jeans
- Loves building features as much as riding them, and is recognized as one of the best builders in the game. Morton is co-owner of Flux Trail Co

The Video Part:
- Remy leaned into what RealMTB meant to him, the foundations of his riding started with his father, and having a go in the woods with his crew building and best mate Scott Robb (his XG filmer) is as “real” as it gets
- Completely new and immaculately built features specifically for X Games in one continuous freeride line, highlighting his prowess in trail building, requiring 3-4 months of building
- His video part is arguably picture perfect, highlighting his roots in MTB, the build, and his uniquely smooth riding
- Video part filmed in Queensland, Australia, all within reach of home
Rider Dylan Stark + Filmer/Editor Tyson Traner
Country: USA (California)
About Dylan:
- Pro BMXer at 16, moved innto the trade jobs like roofing, then turned Mountain Biker and the rest is history
- Best known for his wild YouTube edits featuring huge features both on dirt and street, like roof dropping into the famous El Toro set.
- Can mix BMX and MTB styles better than almost anyone
- Recently made waves when he snuck a grind rail into his 2022 Rampage run

The Video Part:
- This is exactly what Dylan is known for, bridging the styles of BMX and MTB, going massive in the streets and in natural dirt terrain.
- Physically put his body and his bikes on the line in every single clip, hammer after hammer
- Took to the streets of SoCal and the inland empire mountain terrain, approach of searching for spots and riding them as natural as possible (similar to skate / snow)... vs the full build style.
- Tyson Traner (Dylan’s filmer) is an XG Real medalist with Colby Raha in Real Moto
Rider Tom van Steenbergen + Filmer/Editor Calvin Huth
Country: Canada (British Columbia)
About Tom:
- One of the most dynamic MTB freeride athletes of our time. Highly capable in both the big mountain freeride and slopestyle contest worlds
- Came back stronger than ever from a huge injury at Rampage in 2021
- 2nd place in 2023 Rampage
- Known for hosting the “Big White Invitational Slopestyle” contest in Kelowna, BC

The Video Part
- Tom put it all on the line, as expected, landing never been done tricks in his part
- He represented freeride MTB as a whole, riding three different types of bikes in various types of terrain
- Calvin Huth (Tom’s filmer and previous Real MTB judge) have worked together on their award winning “Wild West” video parts. It’s no surprise they’re back to work together on XG RealMTB and will put it all on the line for Gold.
- Filmed on-location at Tom’s home in Kelowna, BC .. plus Utah (Rampage sites and other) and Vancouver Island
Rider Kade Edwards + Filmer/Editor Joe Bowman
Country: United Kingdom (Wales)
About Kade:
- Highly respected World Cup racer AND freerider - Very Unique
- Stealing the viral clip fame from every World Cup downhill race with his antics; from high speed manuals to tuck no-handers mid race run…massive crowd pleaser
- Also very at home on a BMX bike, considers himself a biker among all
- Looking to make more waves in the freeride world and Real MTB is just the platform
The Video Part:
- Fresh off a decision to step away from World Cup racing, comes Kade’s breakout in the freeride world with Real MTB
- His part isn’t what you’d expect of him on the big bike, but fully focused on technical slopestyle tricks on a completely custom built line, in STEEP terrain for a slope bike… still highlighting his world cup speed
- The line required 3-4 months of building
- Joe Bowman aka Steel City Media (Kade’s filmer) has been here once before with Vero Sandler’s Real MTB part in 2021
- It’s the classic UK vibe the MTB scene loves, from the build, location, riding, music, and edit
- On-location at the iconic Revolution Bike Park in the UK
